Abstract

The cydDC operon encodes an ABC-family membrane transporter required for assembly of the cytochrome bd quinol oxidase and periplasmic cytochromes. The objectives are to: 1. test the hypothesis that the substrate translocated in haem(s), 2. determine the topology of the CydD and CydC proteins in the membrane, 3. determine structure-function relationships by site-directed mutagenesis, and 4. investigate the regulation of expression of the cydDC operon.
