Abstract

(i) Photosystem two reaction centre complexes containing 6 chlorophyll and 2 pheophytin molecules will be purified from a series of site-directed DI mutants of Synechocystis 6803 in order to (ii) identify the binding sites of these pigment molecules, particularly the primary electron donor and acceptor molecules, identify specific H-bonds between the chromophores and DI and (iv) monitor the effect of changes in primary structure on the rate and efficiency of primary charge separation.
