Abstract

The major objectives of the proposed project are as follows:(a) to establish the inter-relationship between the three distinct mitochondrial isoforms of dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (E3); (b) to examine the possibility that these individual E3 enzymes represent complex- specific isoforms; (c) to purify and characterise the single organelle- specific form of dihydrolipoamide dehydrogenase (E3) detected in chloroplasts; (d) to determine if these various forms of E3 arise by differential splicing of a single genomic copy or are the products of separate genes and (e) to examine the developmental and tissue- specific expression of these E3 enzymes.
