Abstract

The contribution of covalent modification of fructose- 6-phosphate 2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase to the regulation of carbon partitioning during photosynthesis will be established as follows. (i) The effect of phosphorylation state on the relative activities and kinetic properties of the enzyme(s) will be studied. (ii) The metabolic factors that regulate the phosphorylation state of the enzyme(s) in vivo will be identified. (iii) The influence of changes in phosphorylation state on carbon flux will be measured.(iv) The enzymes responsible for (dc) phosphorylation of the enzyme(s) will be characterised.
