Abstract

Leading edge IT developed at UEA for mining large databases will be adapted to enable highly discriminatory analyses to be performed on biological data, accelerating progress in understanding biological diversity and its industrial implications. A range of knowledge discovery approaches will be applied to yeast characteristics data, providing new research leads and decision-making tools. DNA sequence data will be automatically curated and integrated with comprehensive conventional data from 600 yeast species, including emerging food spoilage agents, yielding unparalleled opportunities for research into generating predictive capabilities for emerging microbial threats. Crop plant evolution analysis methodologies will also be incorporated.
