Abstract

11Db is an ACeDB based collection of data on human chromosome 11. It is representative of a wide class of biological databases that provide compilations of data derived from multiple sources. The general aim of the project is to develop methods that will enable such databases to update themselves via the internet on a regular schedule. 11Db will be used as a source of specific problems to drive the development of general solutions. Techniques from deductive and temporal object databases will be adapted to address issues of incremental update, integrity and consistency, and traceability. Software produced will be for use with ACeDB.
