Abstract
The aim of the project is to develop and test a tool for discovering biological knowledge in transcriptome, proteome, or metabolome (TPM) data. The tool will be based on identifying qualitative models of biological systems (using machine learning). We choose to learn qualitative models because current TPM data (with many variables but few time points) are not suitable for system identification of quantitative models. The identified models will explain the existing data in a biologically insightful way, and predict the results of new experiments. Compared to manual analysis, the developed tool will have the advantages of speed, efficiency, and completeness of search. To our knowledge there is no comparable tool being used or under development.
