Abstract

It is proposed to develop the informatic tools, databases, and software, to support genome mapping in livestock. A genome project database will be established which will provide for the storage of all data, tracking of materials and samples, and co-ordination of activities. We will design and develop software tools for automatic data capture and direct entry into the database. The database and applications will be available on the Internet using both telnet and a Web server. Datasets will also be made available on the ftp server. We will provide graphical user interfaces for data entry and access.
