Abstract

We aim to create an integrated computer package to provide a suite of analytical and presentational tools for analysing data sets involving quantitative trains and molecular genetic markers in animal and plant populations. The package will facilitate the mapping of quantitative trait loci (QTL) and allow their effects to be accurately estimated together with their interactions with other genes, traits and biological environmental variables. It will use regression techniques recently developed by the PIs and others, together with a user-friendly Windows/X-Windows interface for PCs and workstations. The package is designed for the growing number of biologists concerned with genome analysis and breeding with quantitative traits.
