Abstract
To improve the prediction of the tertiary structure of proteins from the amino acid sequence, and develop new methods to predict function from sequence. This will include the prediction of composite residue environments, the prediction of protein architectures, topologies and super secondary motifs, and the recognition of structures and functions. The novel methodologies to be used are: recasting the prediction problem in terms of environments, topologies; developing neural network (NN) architectures which allow the selective use of non-local sequence information.
