Abstract

High-throughput (HTP) technologies are revolutionising biological research. We propose a Grid-based e-science environment to allow structural biologists remote, integrated access to the HTP technologies associated with protein crystallography including those being developed rapidly for Diamond, the new UK synchrotron. We will develop Grid-enabled procedures spanning all stages from protein production through to deposition of the final refined model and present them to the biologist via a single easy-to-use interface. As part of these efforts proper data models will be developed together with software for automated collection of diffraction data and on-the-fly structure determination using coarse-grained parallelisation on computer clusters. (Joint with 17782, 17783 and 17784).
