Abstract
It is proposed to develop molecular imprinting technology for the extraction of biomolecules from medical and environmental samples prior to analysis by HPLC. Beads imprinted with the template molecule of interest will be prepared by suspension polymerisation in non-aqueous media or by seeded emulsion polymerisation and characterised by batch and chromatographic techniques. Imprinted solid extraction systems for illicit drugs, therapeutic drugs and specific DNA sequences will be developed. (Joint with grant BCE08163).
