Abstract
Within two years, we will develop tubular membrane filters, containing concentric screw-thread inserts of various geometries, which will provide enhanced filtration performance and product recovery, with reduced fouling, with negligible damage to proteins and cells, with longer membrane lifetimes and which will operate at low pumping cost. These membrane separators will be suitable for nanofiltration, ultrafiltration and microfiltration, depending on the choice of membrane, and will be developed for the processing of fine chemical, protein and cellular solutions.
