Abstract

The Membrane Protein Structure Initiative (MPSI), a consortium of highly experienced membrane protein research groups from Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, UMIST, Oxford, Sheffield, Imperial, Birkbeck, and CCLRC Daresbury will develop strategies for high throughput (HTP) expression, purification, characterisation, folding, crystallisation and structure determination of selected integral membrane proteins. The aims include development of robotics and recombinational cloning strategies for HTP production of expression constructs; the development of HTP screening methods for expression, solubilisation, purification and folding; the production of purified proteins for crystallisation and structure determination; and the HTP modelling of homologues.
