Abstract
IBERS will underpin plant genetic improvement efforts by developing germplasm resources appropriate to partners in SE Europe, Asia, Africa and S. America. IBERS maintains the European Co-operative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR) central crop databases for Lolium and Trifolium spp. The IBERS Genebank maintains seed accessions of the major perennial forage crops of both advanced and developing economies, totalling approx. 23,000 seed accessions of Lolium, Festuca, Avena, Dactylis, Medicago and Lotus species.
