Abstract

We propose to hold a workshop in India at ICGEB (new Delhi) in Feb 2017. Its purpose is to review the opportunities for the development of sustainable routes to new more environmentally friendly herbicides using engineered C1 fermenting bacteria and waste C1 gas as the feedstock. Such feedstocks are ideal as they serve two purposes. They represent a low cost (compared to sugar, for instance) option suited to bulk chemical production and, through their use, GHG gas emissions will be reduced with consequential benefits to the environment and human health.
