Abstract

CerealsDB is a web based community resource for wheat genomics. CerealsDB is already a successful resource the aim of this project is to develop and adapt the resource to meet the communities changing needs and expectation, to connect with other websites such as the Wheat Initiative expanding its remit from serving the UK to encompass the global community. The product produced will be an unencumbered international web-based resource. The objectives are to update CerealsDB to include further tools and resources and expand the remit to include an international audience by developing a multilanguage site. To expand the SNP/genotype databases to include iSelect and Axiom based genotyping datasets and develop methods for detecting breeder driven selection. To develop, via fathmm (functional analysis through hidden Markov models), tools to identify and characterise functional SNPs (this will also leverage functional annotation generated for other closely related species such as barley and Brachypodium). To provide users (breeders and academics) with tools to link mapped and non-mapped SNPs/genes across a variety of wheat related species. Finally the project team will provide training across the range of activities.
