Abstract

Identifying genes controlling susceptibility/resistance to infectious disease opens up opportunities to breed for healthier livestock. This project will investigate the relative importance of the bovine MHC, compared to other candidate gene loci, in determining the level of response to pathogens in a cattle cross herd. The project is part of a programme mapping immune and perforamnce traits in cattle.
