Abstract
The function of the mitochondrial protein import machinery is being examined with the intention of altering mitochondrial function. The structure, function, expression and applications of the protein TURF 13 are being examined in transgenic organisms. The DNA binding protein involved in the control of mitochondrial gene expression are being isolated and characterised. Vectors are being designed and made for use in mitochondrial transformation experiments.
