Abstract
The development of the male gametophyte is being studied by isolating and characterising genes which are specifically expressed in microspores and the vegetative cell of the male gametophyte. Expression of antisense constructs are being exploited to investigate the role and function of these genes. Promoter structure and the transacting factors which interact with them are being studied.
