Abstract

In this project we will show that sufficient variation exists within wheat germplasm to develop varieties which have greater breadmaking quality at low grain protein content, eliminating the need to apply excess levels of nitrogen fertiliser. This will be facilitated by our ability to develop molecular markers for parameters which determine this trait for use in wheat breeding.
