Abstract

The aims of the project are to develop and extend the pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum) `world reference map¿ with 200 microsatellite markers and to initiate the incorporation of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers into the map. The maps and the associated technologies will be transferred immediately to ICRISAT in India for application in their breeding programmes and used to underpin African-targeted projects on millet improvement.
