Abstract

Arabidopsis VRN2 mediates vernalization and is homologous to plant and animal Polycomb-group proteins. It is therefore likely function in a multi-subunit complex and regulate chromatin structure. The project will involve identification of proteins that interact with Arabidopsis VRN2 using a yeast two-hybrid system. Prof. Kidou will work alongside Dr Tony Gendall, the post-doc working on VRN2 and Lynne Barrett, a PhD student already performing yeast two-hybrid screens with VRN1. The vectors have already been made and the library made ready for screening.
