Abstract
Isolation of promoters of the mitochondrial beta- Atpase and porin genes and of genes which are highly expressed in scutellum, microspores and roots. Isolations of introns. Determination of expressions levels of isolated promoters in different tissues. Identification of enhancer and tissue specific elements within promoters. Use of these to develop an artificial promoter with pre-determined tissue and cell specific levels. Creation of general monocot transformation vectors and the development of modulate expression cassettes. To develop methods which improve transformation efficiency.
