Abstract
Barbela wheat is a Portuguese landrace adapted to low fertility, acidic soils. These populations are highly variable at both the morphological and molecular levels, and it has been possible to select lines showing a widely divergent reaction to aluminium stress. In this project, a doubled haploid population segregating for this trait has been constructed, and is being use to is being genetically dissect the tolerance by mapping.
