Abstract

Genes which suppress resistance to a number of fungal pathogens have been identified in wheat through the generation of deletion lines in the CV Hobbit 'sib'. DNA markers which co- segregate with these 'suppressor' genes will be identified using RDA and AFLP technologies. These markers will be mapped on the wheat genomic map and used to develop primer-based molecular tags that will enable plant breeders to identify and thereby eliminate these 'suppressor' genes from their wheat breeding lines.
