Abstract

The utility of PCR markers - REPAIR developed especially for this purpose, microsatellites, AFLP and RAPD - for the assessment and management of the IRRI and NBPGR germplasm collections will be optimised and seeded up to handle the quantities of accessions held presently at IRRI. Aims are to identify likely duplications and those accessions with maximum diversity to assemble core (around 1000), secondary and tertiary collections. In addition to scaling up methodologies and developing automated analyses, emphasis will be on technology transfer to IRRI and India
