Abstract
The genome of RTSV was partially sequenced, indicating a picornavirus-like structure, and enabling identification of the three coat protein genes. The variation of these genes in several different geographical isolates was studied, providing useful information towards developing a strategy for non- conventional resistance in transgenic rice. Collaborative research on transformation of rice with RTSV sequences was carried out, and also a complete cDNA clone of the RNA genome was constructed.
