Abstract

This programme is designed to identify, isolate and characterise genes of major importance in the pea crop. Our first aim is to characterise those genes responsible for the change in leaf form. Our primary aim is to establish the nature and mode of action of the uni gene, and its relation to af and tl. This is a model for the development of methods for determination of the molecular basis of the control of morphology in plants with complex genomes. The output is an understanding of the molecular basis of plant form in a crop. Technology Foresight Panel Recommendation Biotechnology in agriculture. Strategic Programmes Technologies for crop improvement.
