Abstract

The aim is to generate a multivalent PPR vaccine, using a segmented version of the PPRV genome as a vehicle to express heterologous immunogens that, when incorporated into the PPR vaccine, may afford protection against a number of different diseases. The main beneficiaries of such a vaccine will be livestock owners in areas where these diseases are endemic. Sustainable agriculture within areas of endemnicity is essential in the fight against poverty. The viral diseases targeted in this proposal are in line with the BBSRC's combating diseases of the developing world strategy as well as DFID’s long term commitment to improving the sustainability of agriculture in developing countries.
