Abstract
We will investigate the epidemiology of ASFV in wildlife and domestic pigs in four countries with different ecosystems and diverse ASF histories. We will also characterise the virus strains circulating in these countries which will help in tracing sources of disease outbreaks and provide information relevant for targeting of vaccine development and vaccination campaigns. This information is needed to design effective control strategies based on consistent knowledge of the epidemiological patterns and the management of the risk of introduction and spread of the disease.
