Abstract

The project will include the development and testing of new molecular assays for detection and characterisation of FMDV capable of providing a very rapid, sensitive and specific result. Methods which can identify isolates of FMDV containing genomes with a modified or altered genetic make-up and therefore indicating a potential change in biological characteristics, will be especially relevant.
