Abstract
Our understanding of the development of immunocompetence in the chicken is poor, and yet crucial to an industry that increasingly relies on in-ovo vaccination to provide early protection against a range of pathogens. The aim of this project will be to gain an understanding of those mechanisms that determine immunological response or tolerance, and to manipulate them to give earlier protective responses to DNA and recombinant vaccines.
