Abstract

The objectives of the work comprise a hierarchal series of steps, focusing primarily on the developmental phenotype. 1. To define the region of chromosome 2 implicated in the trait of accelerated asexual development and faster transition into gametogony (= attenuation). 2. To map the region more finely through the integration of a genetic linkage map with a physical map. 3. To determine DNA sequence for the region of the chromosome implicated. 4. To use the sequence data to identify putative genes responsible for the phenotype.
