Abstract
The objectives of this project are (1) to study the TSE strains isolated from other species, for example TME of farmed mink and chronic wasting disease (CWD) of captive and wild deer, to determine any relationships with the more widely recognised TSEs of sheep, cattle and humans (2) to continue studies on the influence of host PrP genotype and species on the selection of TSE strains, using rodent model systems and (3) to isolate, characterise and clone a range of rodent-passaged TSE strains for use in other projects.
