Abstract

The aims of the project are to: 1. Characterise the expression and polymorphism of genes in the chicken MHC, relating these properties to function at the molecular level. 2. Map and characterise genes related to, interacting with or located close to chicken MHC genes, in particular those genes on the chicken MHC chromosome and paralogous regions 3. Develop reagents and assays to analyse the immune response of chickens at the cellular level (particularly T cells and NK cells) to pathogens and vaccines. 4. Identify epitopes in pathogens and vaccines that bind to chicken class I and class II molecules, as the basis for improvement of vaccines
