Abstract

The capsid protein of BVDV binds to the virus RNA and forms part of the nucleocapsid of the virion. It has also been reported for another pestivirus, classical swine fever virus, that expression of the capsid protein influences transcription in the host cell. The goals of the project are to define the interactions of the capsid protein of BVDV with both viral and cellular components to unravel these two distinct properties of the polypeptide.
