Abstract

IAH-Pirbright is designated the FAO World Reference Laboratory for rinderpest and is responsible for the supply of diagnostic kits for use in sero-monitoring in the rinderpest eradication campaigns being carried out in Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Quality control testing of rinderpest vaccines for use in Pan African Rinderpest Campaign is carried out by the Institute pending the re- opening of the Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Centre in Ethiopia.
