Abstract
The objectives of this project are to define further the precursors and function of the sub-populations of dendritic cells present in the afferent lymph draining the skin of cattle. Differences in uptake of antigen and stimulation of T cells will be examined. Differences in cytokine synthesis by the dendritic cell sub-populations will be assessed by RT-PCR and quantitative PCR techniques and the potential effects on the bias of the ensuing T cell response determined.
