Abstract

The co-stimulatory signal received by the CD28 receptor on T-cells is crucial in determining the outcome of recognition of foreign antigen by the antigen-specific T-cell receptor, which may be an effective response or the induction of anergy. Whilst CD28 has been identified in chickens and has been shown to deliver a co-stimulatory signal, nothing is known in this species about the ligands on antigen- presenting cells that engage CD28 on the T-cell to provoke the co- stimulatory signal. This project sets out to provide that information.
