Abstract
We have previously developed purification techniques for bluetongue virus particle that have successfully been extended to other economically important orbiviruses such as African horse sickness virus (AHSV). These techniques which have now become the standard method, are being extended to other species of orbiviruses including epizootic haemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) and equine encephalosis (EEV) and Palyam. These studies will not only allow us to examine and compare the structure and structural components from these different viruses, they will also provide materials for further crystallographic studies and provide the reagents used in the development of diagnostic ELISA.
