Abstract

This project is part of an EU-funded project to develop tools for the comparative mapping of avian species. The IAH component of this project aims to construct multiple high quality chicken cDNA libraries from a range of tissues to provide material for gene identification by EST sequencing by other partners. Individual clones from the libraries will be picked and replicated in gridded arrays. To maximise the efficiency of the EST sequencing process cDNAs will be directionally cloned and common genes will be removed by subtractive hybridisation.
