Abstract

We have previously identified inbred lines of chickens which differ markedly in susceptibility to infectious bursal disease. This project aims to refine measures of susceptibility by developing a quantitative PCR assay for levels of viral infection, and to map the genes responsible for resistance in crosses between resistant line 61 chickens and susceptible Brown Leghorn chickens, using a combination of microsatellite and AFLP markers.
