Abstract
The project brings together expertise on the structural analyses of the dsRNA viruses from laboratories within Europe. There are two main focuses for the contract as a whole, the structure of the two segmented dsRNA bacteriophage Phi 6, and the members of the Reoviridae, particularly the orbiviruses and BTV. The project will analyse the structural components of the orbivirus outer capsid, the minor enzymatic components and the RNA genome segments of the virus core by X-ray crystallography and cryo electron microscopy. Expression and purification studies of individual proteins are underway.
