Abstract

(1) Identify promoter and intron sequences responsible for locus variation and tissue-specific expression for a defined set of regulatory genes determining early stages of floral meristem development in B. oleracea. (2) Describe the regulation of meristematic determination through expression studies at defined stages of development in comparison with A. thaliana; (3) Attain predictable gene expression through identification of key genomic constraints on expression of regulatory genes, and definition of existing QTL for transformation competence which constrain stable DNA expression; (4) Identify QTL controlling meristem determination underlying regeneration from root callus.
