Abstract

Agro-Industrial wastes, such as wheat bran, maize bran and sugarbeet pulp are rich sources of natural ferulic acid. The goal of the project is to enzymically release this ferulic acid and to convert it to vanillin using microbial fermentation. The contribution of IFR is to develop and exploit ferulic acid esterases to release the ferulic acid from the starting material with maximum yield.
