Abstract

The overall objective of this EC-funded 7-partner project, co-ordinated by University College Cork, is to investigate the influence of diet, and its interaction with individual genetic variation, on the metabolism of calcium and bone in humans. This information is required to reinforce the scientific base for dietary strategies for osteoporosis prevention in Europe. IFR will determine the effect of a high sodium diet on metabolism of calcium and bone in postmenopausal women and how it is influenced by the level of dietary calcium
