Abstract
The project will take advantage of recent advances in cannabinoid pharmacology (localization of cannabinoid receptors, isolation of endogenous ligand and development of receptor antagonist drugs). Using human and/or animal models, the studies will assess the role of endogenous cannabinoid systems in appetite, particularly in relation to anticipatory and palatability aspects of eating motivation, and assess the potential for development of clinical treatments in relation to eating disorders and cachexia.
