Abstract

ComBase, a combined database of microbial responses to the food environment, will be hosted jointly by the Institute of Food Research (IFR), Norwich, UK and the Eastern Regional Research Center (ERRC) of the USDA Agricultural Research Service. The management and quality assurance of the database will be coordinated by IFR, the Internet aspects and world-wide relations will mainly be the responsibility of ERRC. IFR will coordinate the development of predictive models based on the ComBase data sets, ERRC will produce and manage the underlying software. Management and scientific committees will be established to assist in the structure, function and dissemination of ComBase and its integrated predictive programs. The output will be an Internet-based product: ComBase-PMP i.e. Combined Database and Predictive Microbiology Program.
