Abstract

Plant natural products are essential for human and animal nutrition, raw material quality, and for non-food uses of crops, such as biofuels. We are interested in (1) biosynthesis, (2) regulation, (3) function, and (4) intersection of plant natural products and pathways, particularly polyphenols and polyamines. This project will use transgenic and reverse genetic approaches with functional genomics and metabolomics to investigate mechanistic and cell-wide features of the two pathways. The project will deliver understanding of natural product pathways through functional elucidation and gene discovery and will benefit from a strategic collaboration with the John Innes Centre.
